Paul and Silas cast a spirit out of a slave girl, which made her owners angry because they lost money. They had Paul and Silas beaten and thrown into prison.

At midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang to God. Suddenly, an earthquake opened the prison doors and broke the chains. The jailer thought the prisoners had escaped and was about to kill himself, but Paul stopped him.

The jailer asked how to be saved. Paul told him to believe in Jesus. The jailer and his whole household believed, were baptized, and rejoiced. The next day, Paul and Silas were released.
